Free ANGEL tutoring available to faculty

Faculty who would like short-term, one-on-one tutoring in their offices on ANGEL and the computer skills needed to use ANGEL may request a student ANGEL tutor. Interested faculty should complete the brief application form at http://tlt.its.psu.edu/support/angeltutors/ online. "Using even minimal ANGEL features can benefit students and faculty in a number of ways," said Carol Dwyer, senior instructional designer. She noted that just posting a syllabus or a few Web links can be helpful. If an instructor activates an ANGEL course section, students may use it to take notes within the course space, as well as use the course mail tool, which facilitates instructor-student and student-student communication. If an instructor has a course Web site elsewhere, linking to it from within ANGEL allows students to find all of their courses in one location. An instructor also can use ANGEL to easily assign students to teams, even in large classes. For further information on the ANGEL Tutors program, e-mail Dwyer at cad6@psu.edu or call (814) 863-7765. The program is sponsored by the Schreyer Honors College, the School of Information Sciences and Technology, the Instructional Systems program of the College of Education and Teaching and Learning with Technology, a unit of Information Technology Services.
