Penn State Veteran's Organization to present 'A Day of Remembrance'

University Park, Pa. -- The Penn State Veteran's Organization (PSVO) presents "A Day of Remembrance" in its annual Veterans Day ceremony, which will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, on the steps of Old Main on the University Park campus. The public ceremony honors the contributions of all U.S. soldiers, past and present. This year's speaker will be Capt. Jonathan Bennett, a veteran of the campaigns Operation Noble Eagle -- the military's efforts in the War on Terrorism that were carried out on U.S. soil -- and Operation Iraqi Freedom -- the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He commanded the 443rd Military Police Co., based in Owings Mills, Md. Bennett currently is in the 3/312 Training Support Battalion based in Fort Meade, Md., and is a senior consultant for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. PSVO was founded in 1968 to promote the general welfare of student veterans at Penn State and is one of the oldest continuing collegiate veterans organizations in the nation.
