University Park, Pa. -- The Penn State Blue Band continues its march into the fashion world this fall as the December issue of Vogue Magazine hits the streets this week. Several dozen Blue Band members were photographed along with actress Keira Knightley last month by celebrity photographer Annie Liebovitz.
The Blue Band photo can be seen in a double-page photo spread on pages 300-301 of the international fashion magazine. There is a smaller version of the photo that also appears on page 92 of the magazine. Knightley is generating a lot of buzz right now for her starring role in the new film version of "Pride and Prejudice."
The Blue Band received quite a bit of attention from the national media in September when its members made an unusual appearance on the runway in the Marc Jacobs fashion show in New York City.
These fashion world forays by the band include another big appearance for Penn State that is scheduled for January. W Magazine, a major international fashion magazine, spent the past few weeks at University Park to prepare a special section of photographs from Penn State that will illustrate the coffee table style magazine's first issue for 2006. Penn State alumnus Dennis Freedman, creative director with W Magazine, played a key role in bringing the magazine to the University Park campus.
