Lunch and Learn series focuses on health issues

With a goal to increase knowledge among employees about prevention and early detection of various cancers, Penn State Cancer Institute and Central Pennsylvania Oncology Group (CPOG) will host a new Lunch and Learn lecture series beginning in April.

The first presentation, "Breast Health and You," takes place at noon Tuesday, April 4, in Lecture Room A at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The 50-minute presentation will focus on good breast health, mammography and breast cancer treatments. Participants will learn about the Mammacare method of breast self exam. Models will be used to practice new examination techniques. Attendees will also learn about Mammopads, a new service now being offered to women at Hershey Breast Imaging.

The second installment of the series, "An Ounce of Prevention -- Keeping an Eye on Your Skin" is set for noon Tuesday, April 18, in Room C3621 at the medical center. This 45- minute presentation will cover the three main types of skin cancer, signs and symptoms of skin cancer, and how to practice good sun safety. Participants also can receive free Dermascan facial screenings to detect skin damage caused by the sun. Drinks and fruit will be provided.
