Hurley appointed associate vice president for Auxiliary and Business Services

University Park, Pa. -- Gail Hurley, assistant vice president for Housing, Food Services and Residence Life, has been named associate vice president for Auxiliary and Business Services. She has served in this position in the interim since Tom Gibson assumed his current responsibilities as associate vice president for Finance and Business.

Hurley is responsible for all facets of Penn State's Housing and Food Services operations, in addition to the operations of the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State Hospitality Services and the Business Services unit, which includes the Multimedia & Print Center, Procurement and Materials Management, and Transportation Services.

Hurley came to Penn State in 1984 from Ohio University as the director of Residence Life. During the 1996-1997 academic year she served as an administrative fellow under the mentorship of Gary C. Schultz, senior vice president for Finance and Business, and treasurer.

"I can speak firsthand when I comment that we are very fortunate to have a person of Gail's talent and vision continue her career at Penn State in this new role," said Schultz.

Hurley also served as assistant to the vice president for Student Affairs and director of Housing and Residence Life, a joint appointment between the Finance and Business and Student Affairs organizations. She was named assistant vice president for Housing and Residence Life in January 2003 and assumed the Food Service function in January 2005.
