Penn State Law

Part-time J.D. program open for enrollment

The Penn State Dickinson School of Law has announced the establishment of a part-time, daytime J.D. program available at the school's facilities in Carlisle and University Park. The program, now open for enrollment, is designed for students who are able to attend classes during daytime hours and who are interested in completing law school in four to seven years.

Students accepted to the part-time program may take as few as six credits or as many as 11 credits per semester and will complete the same curriculum requirements as full-time J.D. students. Following an aggressive schedule will allow part-time students to complete the program at a rate more comparable to full-time students, whereas following a schedule at roughly half the pace of full-time students would more easily accommodate employment outside of school. All part-time students will have access to the student services and organizations available to full-time students.

The start of the part-time program coincides with the Law School's introduction of students to Penn State's University Park campus. Approximately 100 first-year, 30 second-year and 30 third-year students will begin taking classes this fall at the Law School's newly established University Park location. The Carlisle location will continue to accommodate first-, second- and third-year students as well.
