Bahnfleth named ASHRAE's director-at-large

William Bahnfleth, professor of architectural engineering and director of the Indoor Environment Center, has been named the director-at-large of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Bahnfleth's duties will include serving on ASHRAE's board of directors and its publishing and education councils. An ASHRAE Fellow, he continues to serve on many of the organization's committees.

A member of the Penn State faculty since 1994, Bahnfleth holds a bachelor's, master's and doctorate in mechanical engineering and a bachelor's in music from the University of Illinois.

His areas of teaching and research include thermal storage, district heating and cooling, indoor air quality, building energy and modeling and analysis and application of thermal sciences to buildings.

Founded in 1894, ASHRAE is dedicated to the advancement of research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education of the sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. ASHRAE boasts a membership of more than 55,000 worldwide.
