Civil engineering's Wagener receives early career award

Thorsten Wagener, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, received the Early Career Research Excellence Award from the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society. Established in 2004, the biennial award recognizes an individual within seven years of obtaining his or her doctoral degree for research excellence in environmental modeling and software. Wagener was recognized for his work on modeling natural systems. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Siegen, Germany, a master of science from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands and a doctoral degree from Imperial College, the United Kingdom.
