Mini-grants available for student groups to address challenges of high-risk behavior

University Park, Pa. -- Programming to support student initiatives to reduce high-risk drinking, smoking and other drug abuse are being solicited for all Penn State campuses. To meet that need, the Commission for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) -- for the past three years -- has awarded mini-grants to campus student organizations in support of such initiatives.

Student groups can receive up to $500 for the academic year for projects to prevent alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use/abuse. Campus Mini-Grant Applications for the 2006-2007 school year are currently being accepted and are due Oct. 6. All Penn State student organizations are eligible to apply.

An advisory group to the Vice President for Student Affairs, CSAP's mission is to foster an environment that does not support the abuse of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs. Additional information, grant criteria, and applications are available at:

Anyone with questions about the mini-grant program or application process, or student groups needing assistance with the grant application, should contact Anna Zacher at amz14@ psu.edu.
