Q&A from the University Registrar: My son plans to graduate at the end of the semester. What should he do?

It's the student's responsibility to notify the University of his intent to graduate. This must be done during the "intent to graduate activation period" for the semester in which the student plans to graduate. The activation period is listed in the Academic Calendar (http://registrar.psu.edu/academic_calendar/calendar_index.cfm) for each semester and is generally the first two weeks of the semester. For spring 2008, the intent to graduate activation period is January 2 - 28. The student indicates his intent to graduate using the "Graduating this Semester" application in eLion (http://elion.psu.edu). If the student's plans change during the semester, he can cancel his intent to graduate using the same eLion function. Keep in mind that in order to graduate, a student must satisfy all of the University, college, and major requirements that were in effect at the time of his most recent admission, or re-enrollment, as a degree candidate.
