Forum explores humanities research

"Research Intersections: A Forum for Interdisciplinary Research" will be held Thursday, March 20, in the Alumni Fireside Lounge and Lobby of the Nittany Lion Inn, University Park. This is an interdisciplinary forum showcasing some of the many projects funded by the Institute for the Arts and Humanities between spring 2007 and 2008 through its Individual Faculty Grant and Resident Scholars and Artists competitions.

The one-day event will consist of six presentations and four exhibits by Penn State faculty.

The event includes:

-- 10:30 to noon, a culture and ideology panel featuring Alexandra Staub, associate professor of architecture; Jennifer Mittelstadt, assistant professor of history; and Maria Truglio, assistant professor of Italian.

-- Noon to 1 p.m., exhibits in the adjoining Alumni Fireside Lounge lobby by Michael Kiernan, associate professor of English;  Mary Saunders Barton, associate professor of music;  James Thurman, assistant professor of visual arts; and Marcy North, associate professor of English.

-- 1 to 2:30 p.m., a cultural connections panel featuring Aaron Rubin, Mal and Lea Bank early career professor of Jewish studies and  assistant professor of Classics and ancient Mediterranean studies;     Timothy Murtha, assistant professor of landscape architecture; and  Paul Youngquist, professor of English.
