Architectural engineering students win IESNA award

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State students Marissa Gesell and Christie Clowes are the recipients of the 2008 Howard Brandston Student Lighting Design Education Grant. They prepared their submission as part of AE 466 Computer Aided Lighting Design and Analysis, taught by Kevin Houser, associate professor of architectural engineering.

The Howard Brandston Student Lighting Design Education Grant was established to encourage and recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional professional promise through the presentation of an original and ingenious solution to a supplied lighting design problem. The purpose of the grant is to foster good lighting and to advance the appreciation of lighting as an art.

The award will be presented at the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) at their annual conference from Nov. 9 - 11 in Savannah, Ga.
