Longtime University employee retires

Kay Wawrynovic has retired from the University with 35 years of service. She began her tenure at University Park in 1970, then came to Penn State Altoona in 1979 to work in the ROTC office. Upon retirement, Wawrynovic was a faculty staff assistant for Academic Affairs.

She was active in the campus community having served on the Staff Advisory Council, Health and Wellness committee, The Commission for Women, and the sub-committee to review the SRDP forms. She also assisted ROTC over the summer months.

Co-workers describe Wawrynovic as the “cheerleader” of the Faculty Staff Assistant Team, often appearing at a desk wearing a red rubber nose and a Penn State T-shirt while shacking blue and white pom-poms to cheer up someone having a bad day.
