Copyright Perspectives site helps students learn legal and ethical use

University Park, Pa. -- A new Copyright Perspectives Web site at http://copyright.psu.edu/ is available to help students make sound decisions about copying and using media.

A person’s right to copy and use others’ work is a complex mix of many factors. These include the type of media, the reason for its use, how much of the work is being used, and what the copyright owner wants people to do with the work. There are also ethical reasons to give credit to copyright owners, even if the work is used legally.

The Web site provides students with videos, news, guidelines, and other resources explaining the legal and ethical uses of media. The site is a joint effort of the College of Communications, Information Technology Services, the Schreyer Honors College, Student Affairs, and University Libraries.
