Commission for Women invites participants to October retreat

University Park, Pa. — Penn State's Commission for Women will hold its annual retreat from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the Gold Room, Pollock Commons, at the University Park campus. Appointed and affiliate members are encouraged to attend. Individuals who are interested in learning about and contributing to the commission's efforts this year are also welcome. This year's retreat features an overview of the commission's history, current goals and projects, committee descriptions, volunteer opportunities and a discussion about the Report on the Status of Women at Penn State, 2007–2008. The Commission for Women was established in 1981 to serve as an advisory group to the president on issues affecting women and to guide the University in its efforts to enhance the status of women at Penn State. The commission advocates for programs and policies that enhance the working and learning environments for women students, faculty and staff members, technical service employees and administrators.
