Ag Career Day set for Oct. 7

University Park, Pa. -- Exploring internship and career opportunities can be overwhelming for college students, but Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences is trying to make it a little easier with its Ag Career Day, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Bryce Jordan Center.
"Ag Career Day gives agricultural businesses the chance to recruit and begin interviewing students for internships and full-time career positions," said Denise Connelly, manager of the Office for Undergraduate Education and coordinator of the Career Day. "Students from the College of Agricultural Sciences are in demand."
Students can meet with up to 125 representatives from more than 60 industry employers from across the country. Ag Career Day also is an excellent networking opportunity for students to interact with industry representatives and discover first-hand the careers that are available.
"Even if students are not at the point in their academic career to begin seeking an internship or full-time employment, they are highly encouraged to attend," added Connelly. Speaking with industry representatives helps younger students to build personal communication skills and to investigate the qualifications and skills needed for future positions.
Companies scheduled to appear include GROWMARK Inc., Northeast Agri-Employment Services, Laurel Gardens, Denison Landscaping Inc., Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Smithfield Packing, Turkey Hill Dairy, Tyson Foods Inc., Genex Cooperative, Hain Pure Protein Corp., AgChoice Farm Credit, Bartlett Tree Experts, Elanco Animal Health, AgRecycle Inc., and Mid Atlantic Farm Choices FLCA.
