Walk in the Lion's Paws: A talk by Steven Herb and former mascots

"A Walk in the Lion's Paws: Why the Mascot Is Loved," a talk by Steven L. Herb and former Lion mascots, will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in Foster Auditorium, 101 Pattee Library, University Park. The presentation will be followed by a meet-and-greet the mascots in Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library. It will end with adequate time for visitors to attend the Homecoming parade on campus that evening.

In 1996, Herb and Jackie R. Esposito co-authored the book, "The Nittany Lion: an Illustrated Tale." In addition to being a storyteller, Herb is the executive director of the Pennsylvania Center for the Book and head librarian of the Education and Behavioral Sciences Library. The event is being held in conjunction with "The Lion's Roar: Penn State Spirit," an exhibit featuring historical photographs of Penn State’s mascot, the Nittany Lion, on display in the main exhibit hall of Pattee Library, through Dec. 30.

The event is free to the public. For information, contact Penn State University Libraries Public Relations and Marketing at (814) 863-4240.
