Scholar to deliver lecture on Jewish contributions to Swedish identity

University Park, Pa. — Michelle Facos, associate professor of the history of art at Indiana University, will present a lecture on "Jewish Contributions to the Promotion of Swedish National Identity, circa 1900," at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5 in 124 Sparks Building on Penn State's University Park campus.

Facos is the author of multiple books, including "Nationalism and the Nordic Imagination: Swedish Painting in the 1890s" and the new "Symbolist Art in Context." She is also the co-editor of "Art, Culture and National Identity in Fin-de-Siècle Europe." Her current research focuses on Thursday's lecture topic of Jewish contributions to Swedish identity.

The lecture is sponsored by Penn State's Jewish Studies Program, Department of Art History and the Institute for the Arts and Humanities.
