A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member recently presented two papers at the Autodesk University conference held in Las Vegas.
Jeffrey D. Mather, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design, presented "Working With Neutral Format Surface and Solid Models in Autodesk Inventor," one of 11 Autodesk Inventor "PowerTrack" sessions that were offered during the conference. With more than 600 sessions at Autodesk University, the PowerTrack sessions helped give attendees a directed path of learning in an advanced topic.
Portions of Mather’s presentation were previewed in an article published in the September/October issue of AUGI World magazine, the official publication of Autodesk Users Group International.
Mather also presented a session titled "Functional Design Tools for Educators in Autodesk Inventor Professional." This was a repeat of a presentation he did at Autodesk University 2007, augmented for 2008 with lab materials developed in cooperation with Penn College lab technician Michael J. McNaul, as used in physics labs at the college.
In addition to the two presentations, Mather served as a lab assistant at Autodesk University for a class titled "Using Autodesk Inventor Tooling: Mold Design," using Autodesk plastic injection mold design software that is not yet available in North America.
Also in attendance at Autodesk University was Craig A. Miller, CAD technology specialist in Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College.
Autodesk University, which was held Dec. 2-5, is an annual conference that brings together more than 8,000 design professionals from around the world.
Mather is an Autodesk Inventor Certified Expert and a Certified SolidWorks Professional. He is a member of the American Design and Drafting Association. He holds a doctorate and a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University; he earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and an associate degree from John Tyler Community College, Virginia.
