WPSU-TV's weekend pledge drive exceeds goal

Station beats goal by more than $4,000

University Park, Pa. — As part of a special two-day weekend pledge drive, WPSU-TV raised more than $19,400. The fundraiser was held this past Saturday and Sunday. The weekend goal for the WPSU February Showcase: A Weekend of PBS Favorites was $15,000.

Viewers pledged most vigorously during WPSU’s airing of British Comedies, as well as during the programs, “Alone in the Wilderness,” and “Lawrence Welk’s TV Treasures.”

"Like so many public television stations across the country, WPSU has been running behind goal in fundraising to support programming. Having this successful weekend campaign gives us a bit of a boost to get back on track,” said Patrick Smith, director of membership. “We really appreciate the support of every one who called in to show how much they value public broadcasting.”

Smith says 170 viewers generously contributed to the fundraising drive. The final pledge total of $19,472 represents 130% of the $15,000 goal. The funds raised will go toward purchasing, producing and broadcasting high-quality programs for WPSU-TV viewers to enjoy all across Central Pennsylvania.
