Center for American Literary Studies hosts community read

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State’s Center for American Literary Studies (CALS), in partnership with the English Department and the Institute for the Arts and Humanities, is sponsoring a Community Read of Marilynne Robinson's celebrated novel "Housekeeping" (1980).

A number of discussion sessions of the novel will be held, beginning in March and culminating in a public lecture by Robinson -- who has been called the "world's best writer of prose" -- at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17 at the State Theatre. In the week before Robinson's visit, there will be an on-campus discussion session of "Housekeeping" on from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday April 9, in 102 Kern Building.

All events are free and open to the public; please join the Community Read discussion. The full calendar of events can be found at http://www.cals.psu.edu/events/community-read-09.shtml. Contact Hester Blum at hester.blum@psu.edu or (814) 865-0011 for more information.
