Still Life: Altoona puppetry class performs first known student show

At the conclusion of their two-credit course on puppetry, four Penn State Altoona students and their instructor, Carlos Ruiz, performed what he believes to be the first student puppet show by Penn State students. Ruiz, an instructor of theatre arts and resident scenic and costume designer at Penn State Altoona, co-directed the show with Roselyn Costantino, associate professor of Spanish and women's studies and a scholar of women's theatre and theatre and performance of Central and South America.

Photos from the show, which ran for four performances and included a one-man piece by Ruiz titled "Quenamican (The Place Where, Somehow, Life Goes On)" and the student portion titled "Give Me a Hand," are online at http://live.psu.edu/stilllife/1971.
