Packages and letters filled the third floor of the HUB on Thursday, Feb. 19, as Dance Marathon Morale Committee students readied for the 2009 Dance Marathon. Thousands of such parcels lined hallways and rooms before being moved to the Bryce Jordan Center in advance of the Dance Marathon, known simply as THON, a fundraiser for childhood cancer research.
THON begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, when the 700-plus dancers will take to their feet and not sit down for 46 hours to raise money for childhood cancer research. The mail will be delivered toward the end of the event as a morale boost for the dancers. Morale Committee members will distribute the materials, sent by friends, family and well-wishers, to each dancer at an undisclosed time on Sunday.
