University Park, Pa. -- A full-cycle of wash uses 60 gallons of water. Washing only a few shirts in the laundry wastes a huge amount of water. Be sure to do full loads in cold water only and you can reduce your carbon footprint by 645 pounds each year. You can also reduce your footprint by line drying your clothes. One T-shirt alone can contribute nine pounds of carbon when it is constantly spun dry.
