Powwow set for April 18-19; volunteers needed

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State and the State College Area School District are hosting a traditional American Indian Powwow on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday April 19 at the Mount Nittany Middle School in State College. The American Indian traditional Powwow is a contemporary social gathering and celebration of community featuring American Indian dance, drum music and songs. In addition there are Native American foods as well as American Indian vendors showing and selling their arts and crafts. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
The 2009 Powwow Committee is looking for volunteers now to assist with the logistical aspects of the Powwow. Volunteers are needed for Powwow set up, work in the American Indian Kitchen, errands/supplies/facilities, take-down and various other duties.

Please contact John Sanchez, Powwow Coordinator, (814) 863-7994 or apache@psu.edu, to be added to the volunteer list and the next volunteer orientation session. Visit http://www.powwow.psu.edu for more information.
