Free skin cancer screening on May 2

Free skin cancer screenings will be offered Saturday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to coincide with Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month. The event will take place at the University Physician Center in the Dermatology Clinic, Suite 100. To schedule an appointment, call the CareLine at 1 (800) 243-1455.

“Approximately one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in the country this year, and current estimates show that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer,” said Christie Ammirati, associate professor, dermatology, “But by encouraging regular exams we’re hoping to decrease the incidence of skin cancer, the most common form of cancer in the United States.”
