Buffet offers kosher meals on campus during Passover

University Park, Pa. — For the second year, the Passover Buffet at Waring Dining Commons was open to Jewish students, faculty and staff who adhere to kosher dietary laws.

Beginning on April 9, the Passover area served lunch and dinner through Passover week. The lunch menu featured a dairy menu, which included matzoh pizza, vegetables, tossed salad, cheeses, fresh fruits and more. For dinner, students enjoyed a meat menu, which featured baked chicken, matzoh ball soup, vegetables, tossed salad, fresh fruit, desserts and more.

The weeklong service line was the result of a spirited collaboration between students, alumni, Penn State Food Services and a local rabbi.

Rabbi Joel Roth is the legal authority for Kashrut, which is the dietary laws prescribed for Jewish people, at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Waring's buffet line was under his rabbinical supervision.
