Women engineering students, staff honored with WISE Awards

Five individuals from the College of Engineering received 2009 Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Recognition Awards.

Cheryl Knobloch, recruiting coordinator for the Women in Engineering Program, was named a winner in the staff category.

Natalie Bryner, a fifth-year architectural engineering student and president of the Society of Women Engineers, was selected in the undergraduate student category.

Educational Equity Merit Scholarship recipients included undergraduate engineering students Gea Johnson, architectural engineering; Erika Lieberknecht, aerospace engineering; and Krysta Skinner, architectural engineering.

The WISE Awards recognize Penn State students and personnel who "have helped women and girls excel in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics."

The winners were honored at a reception on April 16 at the Bennett-Pierce Living Center in 110 Henderson Building. The WISE Awards are sponsored by Norfolk Southern.
