Mechanical engineering's Kuo receives Navy recognition

Kenneth Kuo, distinguished professor of mechanical engineering and director of the High Pressure Combustion Laboratory, was honored for his work by the Naval Sea Systems Command at its National Capital Region Energetics Symposium on April 28.

Steve Mitchell, the U.S. Navy's technical director, presented Kuo with a plaque that recognized him for his contributions to the Navy's combustion and propulsion program.

Kuo has been a member of the Penn State faculty for more than 36 years. His research interests include combustion, rocket propulsion, gun interior ballistics, industrial hazards and high-temperature insulation material erosion processes.
