Supon to retire from Penn State

After nearly three decades of service to Penn State, Stan Supon will retire from the University on June 30. Supon, assistant dean for undergraduate programs in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST), has been with the College of IST since its founding.

Supon earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from Penn State and began working as an instructor in petroleum and natural gas engineering in 1981. He eventually became an academic adviser and was named administrative director in the Office of Undergraduate Programs shortly after the College of IST opened in 1999.

During his time at Penn State, Supon has won the Penn State Excellence in Advising Award and the Staff Member of the Year Award in the College of IST, and has served as the College of IST’s commencement faculty marshal six times. He is a member of the National Academic Advising Association and has served on the advisory board for the Center for Excellence in Academic Advising, as a faculty associate for the College of IST Special Living Option and on numerous other boards and committees within the University.
