Faculty member photographs Colbert visit to troops

College of Communications' faculty member Steve Manuel was on hand June 7 to photograph as U.S. military personnel watched actor/comedian Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report." Colbert's performance for U.S. military personnel at Al Faw Palace in Baghdad was part of the USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour to the Persian Gulf region June 5-11.

Gen. Ray Odierno, commanding general, Multinational-Force-Iraq, greeted actor/comedian Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" during Colbert's performance for U.S. military personnel.

Manuel, a retired Marine and former public affairs officer for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Marine Corps spokesman who teaches photojournalism and public relations courses at Penn State, regularly serves on USO tours as a photojournalist.
