Lynn DuBois, director with Housing and Food Services, retires

University Park, Pa. -- Lynn DuBois began her career at Penn State as a technical service worker with Food Services. This past June, the director of Ancillary Services for Housing and Food Services announced her retirement after more than 36 years.

After graduating from Slippery Rock University with a degree in elementary education, DuBois started her career with Penn State and it didn't take long for her to realize that the world of higher education was where she belonged.

Shortly after, DuBois became the assistant housing supervisor for three residence hall buildings: McKee, Pennypacker and Johnston Halls. During this time with Housing and Food Services, she received her master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Penn State.

DuBois helped to create training materials for technical service workers and held several positions within Housing. As director of Ancillary Services/Assignment Office, DuBois oversaw assignments, conferences and desk operations, access control, and other duties.

Today, DuBois said she plans to focus on volunteer work. She is a board member of the Centre County Women's Resource Center and is involved with the board of Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church. She also will continue as program chair of the Association of College and University Housing Officers International and is overseeing its Annual Conference and Exposition 2010 in Austin, Texas.
