Youth, sports camps keep campus busy during summer months

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State may seem sparsely-populated during the summer, but the University Park campus hosts thousands of youths of all ages who have come here to learn, play and compete.

This summer, Penn State has hosted more than 20,000 elementary, middle and high school students from the United States and abroad, who choose among more than 95 sport camps and dozens of hands-on programs in arts, theatre, science and engineering. From journalism to field hockey, crime scene investigation to fencing, and everything in between, kids can choose from sessions lasting just a part of day or two, or enroll in week-long, on-campus residence camps.
