Attend the adult student admissions open house this fall

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites adults who are considering starting college or returning to their studies to attend an adult-student undergraduate admissions open house on Thursday, Oct. 1.

The open house begins at 5:30 p.m. with a one-hour exhibit fair in Roche Hall, located in the college's School of Science complex. A seminar on admissions and financial aid will follow at 6:30 p.m. The evening ends with individual admissions counseling sessions.

Representatives from student support offices, including admissions, adult student services, career development and the college’s Early Learning Center, will be available.

Enrollment in any of Penn State Erie's 34 baccalaureate majors or six associate degree programs is open to new or returning adult students. Faculty members from each of the college's four academic schools (the Sam and Irene Black School of Business, the School of Engineering, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Science) and its nursing program also will be on hand to answer questions and discuss learning and career opportunities.

As a convenience, new admissions applications and Penn State re-enrollment applications will be accepted at the open house. Those who attend the event will have application fees waived.

"The fees are $50 for new applications and $20 for re-enrollments," said Biddy Brooks, director of the Center for Adult Students. "For many students, we’ll be able to offer conditional admission on the spot with appropriate academic documentation."

There is no charge to attend the open house and no obligation to apply. To register for Penn State Behrend’s Adult Student Open House, call 814-898-6700, e-mail or visit online.
