Healthy volunteers needed for ways to enhance social skills

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center researchers are studying ways to enhance social skills in adolescents with Asperger’s Syndrome or high-functioning autism.

Healthy volunteers are invited to attend a weekly, one-hour photography class where they will learn and practice introductory photography techniques and have the opportunity to interact with their peers over the course of the 12-week class. The photography class is part of a larger social skills intervention program for teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorders that incorporates a social skills seminar with the opportunity to practice the skills learned in the seminar during the photography class.
Eligible volunteers will be: between the ages of 13 and 17, friendly and outgoing, understanding of individuals with disabilities.
