On Thursday, Jan. 28, Penn State Law Review will present the next event in its Scholarly Diaglogues series, which provides students with the opportunity to engage with professors concerning recent scholarship.
This dialogue will feature Victor C. Romero, Maureen B. Cavanaugh distinguished faculty scholar and professor of law, as he presents his work, "Of Hope and Humility: Christian Realism, Immigration Reform, and Executive Leadership."
Drawing upon President Barack Obama’s admiration of Reinhold Niebuhr’s work, Romero's work outlines a Protestant, Christian realist approach toward immigration policy, with specific focus on the role of the executive in providing providential leadership. He discusses various aspects of such leadership, from negotiating the proper role of states and localities to the promotion of comprehensive immigration reform. Alexis Snyder, managing editor of the Penn State Law Review, will dialogue with Romero about the substance of his article, and a question and answer period will follow.
The event will take place from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. in room 114 of the Lewis Katz Building on Penn State's University Park campus. The presentation will be simulcast to 114 Lewis Katz Hall in Carlisle. The series is open to all who wish to attend; light refreshments will be provided.
Established in 1897, Penn State Law Review is entirely student-run. Published four times annually, it serves as a vehicle for publication of scholarly articles and comments covering all aspects of law, as well as promoting scholarship by enhancing the engagement of its membership with the academic community.
