Faculty member named American Society for Quality fellow

Harriet Black Nembhard, associate professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering at Penn State, was named a fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Nembhard was one of 20 ASQ members who were elected fellows by ASQ's board of directors in November 2009.

ASQ fellows are recognized for achieving professional distinction and pre-eminence in the technology, theory, education, application, or management of quality control.

Nembhard was honored for "outstanding scholarly contributions to the body of quality knowledge, for curriculum development and integration of the quality disciplines into industrial engineering and for competence in converting and communicating quality theory into industry applications useful for the benefit of mankind.''
