Football ticket prices set for 2010

University Park, Pa. — Penn State has established the prices for season and single game football tickets for the 2010 season. Public and student season ticket holders will pay the same per game price as the 2009 season, while those purchasing tickets for select, individual games will see a slight increase.

The per game price for public and student season tickets will remain unchanged at $55 and $29 per game, respectively. All season ticket holders will pay less in total for their seats in 2010, since seven games are scheduled for Beaver Stadium this fall compared to eight in 2009.

"With the recently announced changes related to the Seat Transfer & Equity Plan going into place in 2011, we wanted to provide Penn State fans information on what to expect for 2010 as early on as we could," explained Greg Myford, Associate Athletic Director for Business Relations & Communications. "We're pleased that our season ticket holders, including the students, won't see an increase for the coming year."

Single game ticket prices will increase $3 to $67 per ticket for the 2010 season.

The Nittany Lions will host Michigan (Oct. 30), Northwestern (Nov. 6), Michigan State (Nov. 27), Temple (Sept. 25) and Illinois during the 2010 season, with the Fighting Illini providing the opposition October 9 for Penn State's 91st Homecoming game. Penn State opens the season Sept. 4 vs. Youngstown State in Beaver Stadium and visits 2009 national champion Alabama on Sept. 11.

Beaver Stadium has a capacity of 107,282 and is the nation's largest college football venue. The Nittany Lions have won 34 of their last 37 home games and are 51-13 (79.7) overall since the start of the 2005 season, tied for the nation's No. 7 winning percentage over that span.

Penn State has sold more than 93,000 season football tickets the past three years and had a 98 percent renewal rate for the 2009 season. The Nittany Lions have finished in the top four in the nation in attendance every year since 1991, drawing 9 of the top 10 crowds in Beaver Stadium history during the past five seasons.

Penn State has the nation's largest full-season student section in college sports with more than 21,000 season ticket holders. ESPN The Magazine named the Nittany Lions' student body the nation's No. 1 overall football student section in 2008. Penn State's student section also has been called the nation's best on several occasions since 2005 by the commentators on ESPN's College Gameday.

Penn State (11-2) was No. 9 in the final 2009 AP poll, earning its 23rd Top 10 finish under Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno. The Nittany Lions return 13 starters for the 2010 season, (7 offense, 5 defense, 1 specialist), as well as 11 players that have starting experience.
