April speaker to discuss impact of Vietnam

Senior Adults Gaining Enrichment (SAGE), an outreach program of Penn State Lehigh Valley, will host Emory Guffrovich, director of enrollment management at Penn State Lehigh Valley, on Friday, April 2, at the Corporate Learning Center in Bethlehem, PA. Each SAGE session begins with coffee at 10:30 a.m. The featured speaker begins at 11 a.m., and lunch follows at noon.

Guffrovich will present, "The Vietnam Conflict: Its Implications on Today’s Events." The presentation will take a look at the lessons of the Vietnam conflict and their implications on present day conflicts. It also will compare and contrast Vietnam with the history of the conflicts happening today.

Emory Guffrovich has served as director of enrollment management at Penn State Lehigh Valley since 1999. He also teaches History 173, "Vietnam: War/Peace." He holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education social studies, and master's in history from Bloomsburg University. Guffrovich served in the United States Army from 1966-69 and is a Vietnam veteran. In 1979, he was awarded a Presidential Certificate for Outstanding Community Achievement for Vietnam Era Veterans.
