Chemical Engineering's Danner wins Dreyfus Foundation award

Ronald Danner, professor emeritus in chemical engineering, has been selected as a 2010 Senior Scientist Mentor by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation.

The $20,000 award will support Danner's undergraduate research project titled "The Study of the Removal of Hazardous Compounds from Poly(vinyl chloride)." The group's research focuses on developing methods of measuring the retention and removal of organic trace components from plastics, which is important for environmental and health safety issues in the use of plastic materials.

The Senior Scientist Mentor Program provides a grant to emeritus faculty in the chemical sciences in support of undergraduate research to be conducted under their guidance. The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of the chemical sciences.
