Poole to join College of IST faculty this fall

Erika Poole, a doctoral candidate at Georgia Institute of Technology, will become the newest addition to the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) faculty this fall.

“Erika will provide strong teaching and research support for our IST major,” said David Hall, the college’s interim dean. “She exhibits capability and interest in interdisciplinary research and will ‘bridge the gap’ between the computing and social sciences.”

Poole’s research focuses on how groups collaborate to use, maintain, and make sense of computing technologies. Her area of study have included home technology maintenance practices, public understandings of emerging technologies, workplace adoption of collaboration software and collaborative gaming technologies for improving health and wellness.

Poole holds a master’s degree in computer science from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Purdue University. She is expected to receive her doctorate this summer.
