Penn State Hershey's Lingle retires after 30 years

Virginia Lingle, librarian for collection development and access in College of Medicine, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, has retired after 30 years of service.

Lingle served in the George T. Harrell Health Sciences Library, beginning as a reference assistant for inter-library loan in 1980. She also held several other positions before her current position, which she began in 2001, and she served as the library’s interim director from 2005-07.

Lingle contributed to many publications and articles throughout her career. In 2006, she received the Distinguished Member Award from the Special Libraries Association Biomedical and Life Sciences Division in recognition of exceptional service. Her staff remembers that she not only shared her knowledge, experience and friendship over the years, and helped everyone learn together; she also directed and mentored through many significant projects benefiting the Harrell Health Sciences Library and the medical center community.
