Vote to name Penn State's EcoCAR vehicle

Penn State's Advanced Vehicle Technologies team is currently looking to name its General Motors-donated vehicle and is asking Penn State students, faculty and staff for their vote.

Throughout February and March, the Penn State team asked local youth to give suggestions for the EcoCAR's name. More than 500 suggestions were submitted and have been narrowed down to a list of 15 possibilities.

The vehicle is part of the EcoCAR Challenge, an advanced vehicle competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy that gives students the opportunity to design and build fuel-efficient cars. Each team receives a brand-new Saturn Vue to retrofit and upgrade for the national contest.

Penn State students, faculty and staff have the chance to vote for their favorite car name. To vote, go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PP32RLD online.

University students and faculty also will have a chance to vote for their favorite name at all EcoCAR Earth Day events on April 22 and 23 at the HUB-Robeson Center on Penn State's University Park campus.

Voting ends at midnight on April 24. The student whose naming suggestion that receives the most votes will win a $50 Visa gift card and the opportunity to tour the team's facilities.
