WPSU welcomes families to annual PBS KIDS event on Oct. 21

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — WPSU welcomes families to its annual kids’ carnival, Eventapalooza, for an “Odd Squad”-themed afternoon at Penn State Innovation Park. The free event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 100 Innovation Blvd. in State College.

The first 500 kids who attend the PBS KIDS family event will receive an “Odd Squad” badge and ID card.

Activities and giveaways will include:

  • STEM activity stations from Penn State and community groups
  • Meet and greet photos with the Cat in the Hat, Nature Cat and Peg
  • A free PBS KIDS book and other take home activities
  • A sensory-friendly room
  • PBS KIDS Apps station playing area

The PBS KIDS show “Odd Squad” uses math to investigate strange occurrences, and is designed for preschool and early elementary schoolchildren.

The first 500 children ages 2 through 8 at the carnival will receive a treat bag that includes a free PBS KIDS book, a Dairy Queen coupon and various WPSU and sponsor items.

WPSU-TV, a PBS member station, serves 24 counties in central Pennsylvania and reaches 515,000 households, and WPSU-FM, an NPR member station, is accessible to more than 450,000 listeners in 13 counties. The public media station also includes WPSU Digital Studios, which offers original web series that explore science, arts and culture.
