University Park, Pa. — Well more than 100,000 students, alumni, friends and fans of Penn State are staying connected to the University through Penn State's official page on Facebook and through two accounts on Twitter.
The University's official page on Facebook, at http://www.facebook.com/pennstate, is a hub of daily activity, featuring photos, videos, contests (with prizes like tickets for Penn State football games and shows at the Center for the Performing Arts), news, trivia and answers to questions, along with discussions among fans and Penn State staff. The page, which launched in June 2009, has more than 104,000 fans as of late May, making it the fourth university page to top 100,000 fans.
On Twitter, more than 6,500 people are already following the Penn State Live feed at http://twitter.com/pennstatelive to keep up-to-date with the biggest headlines of the day from the University. Nearly 1,000 people are now following the newest official Penn State Twitter at http://twitter.com/penn_state, which features more personal daily conversation, photos, videos and more.
