Health Shorts: Building your brain by using it

Functional imaging studies of normal brains suggest that it’s possible to alter the nerve circuitry and perhaps even build brain tissue by giving the brain new challenges frequently. Although processing speed slows with aging, the brain remains plastic throughout life, capable of forming new neural connections in response to new experiences or a changing environment.
