Penn State Hershey Diabetes and Obesity Institute 2010 gala

Penn State Hershey Diabetes and Obesity Institute announces its 2010 gala, “Together We Can Tackle Diabetes,” on Oct. 2, at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey, Pa. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are now available.

The black-tie event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be themed around Penn State football. The evening includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a silent and live auction, and an opportunity to meet former Nittany Lion great, Kyle Brady. Plus, the Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Iowa Hawkeyes game will be broadcast live on the main screen during the event. Tickets are $125, and corporate sponsorships are available.

Many exciting items will be up for bid, including Penn State football tickets and memorabilia; autographed Hershey Bears hockey jersey; a vacation rental at The Charter at Beaver Creek in Boulder, Colo.; plus local artwork, jewelry and furniture, dinners to local restaurants; and much more.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to cardiovascular disease, vision loss, nerve damage, stroke, kidney disease, and many other long-term health problems. The money raised at this annual event supports the activities of Penn State Hershey Diabetes and Obesity Institute.

Penn State Hershey Diabetes and Obesity Institute is committed to improving the lives of those with diabetes through world-class patient care, research, and education.
