In October the Penn State Beaver Admissions Office will hold three free programs for prospective students and their families.
A Columbus Day Application Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 11, and the "Be a Penn State Student for a Day" program will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20. A fall open house will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, as part of the Beaver campus Welcome Weekend festivities. All events will be held in the Student Union Building.
At the Columbus Day workshop, prospective students can work with admissions staff members to apply to Penn State and could be eligible to receive an immediate admissions decision if they select Penn State Beaver as their first choice of campus. Applicants must bring their official high school transcripts to the workshop in order to receive same-day confirmation of admission status. Financial aid information and campus tours will be available. Registration for the program is not required.
During the "Be a Penn State Student for a Day" program, high school students can attend a variety of classes on campus and have lunch with current Beaver students. Prospective students can choose from numerous course offerings, including accounting, calculus, psychology, engineering, sociology, chemistry and more. Students also will be able to meet with an admissions counselor and submit an admission application. Space is limited, so students are asked to register in advance.
The Fall Open House provides an opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore the opportunities available at Penn State. This event will include a welcome from Chancellor Gary Keefer, a presentation on Penn State, information on how to apply to Penn State and a campus tour. Participants will sit in one of a variety of college classes in different areas of interest ranging from business and chemistry to information technology and engineering. Beaver campus students will lead tours that will conclude with Penn State Creamery ice cream. Advance registration for the Fall Open House is requested.
