Tune in Monday, Oct. 18, for 'Expert Opinion' show on stadium design

University Park, Pa. -- What issues do stadium designers look at from the ground up, and how do today's rowdy fans and post-9/11 security concerns affect structural decisions and game-day operations? This Monday's (Oct. 18) noontime "Expert Opinion with Graham Spanier" show on the Big Ten Network aims to find out.

For the "Design and Management of Stadiums" show, host and Penn State President Graham Spanier is joined by Jay Manning, Dennis Forsyth and Mark Bodenschatz. Manning is a retired FBI special agent and former director of security for the Washington Redskins pro football program. Forsyth, an architect with SRG Partnership in Seattle, has helped design several U.S. athletic facilities including Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners, and Seattle's renovated Key Arena. Bodenschatz is a professional engineer and associate athletic director of facilities at Penn State.

The show airs Monday at noon Eastern time; check local listings. Watch a preview of the show here.

Starting in November, "Expert Opinion" will feature "Advances in Technology: Sports Equipment," which is scheduled to air at noon on Monday, Nov. 8, as well as another future show dedicated to the hype and the hoopla of today's game-day experience, which will be recorded with a live studio audience from the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

In addition, "Expert Opinion" has lined up special guests for shows on two exclusive topics.

The first, a one-on-one show with President Spanier and Mark Emmert, the new president of the NCAA, is scheduled to air at noon Eastern time on Monday, Nov. 22.

The second special show, "The Future of the Big Ten," will feature guests Jim Delany, commissioner of the Big Ten Conference; Harvey Perlman, chancellor of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln; and Mark Silverman, president of the Big Ten Network. Stay tuned to Penn State Live for an announcement of its air date and time.
