Xerox imaging expert highlights Oct. 28 colloquium

Raja Bala, principal scientist at the Xerox Corporation, will be the featured speaker at the next electrical engineering colloquium at 4 p.m. Oct. 28, in 225 Electrical Engineering West on Penn State's University Park campus.

The event is free and open to the public.

Bala will discuss research in color and digital image processing, including design of color transforms for optimal image quality, design of security features for image printing and image processing techniques that aid in upstream image design and correction.

He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from Purdue University. Bala's research interests include color management, device characterization, image-adaptive rendering techniques, security imaging and techniques for automating image design tasks. He holds 70 patents and has published extensively in image processing and color imaging.
